How much are donors paid and how is compensation structured?

Compensation depends on factors like education, background, and donation history:

  • First-time donors: $8,000–$15,000 per cycle
  • Highly qualified donors: Up to $50,000 per cycle
  • Total potential earnings: Up to $300,000 for six donation cycles

Lucina also offers a $1,000 referral bonus for each successful donor you refer.

How many times can I donate? (What are ASRM limits?)

You can donate up to six times total, as recommended by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). Most donors complete up to three cycles per year, with at least two menstrual cycles between donations.

Do you have donation centers in other states or regions?

Lucina’s egg retrievals take place in San Diego, but your monitoring appointments—such as blood tests and ultrasounds—are coordinated locally near your home. This ensures convenience while maintaining the highest medical standards.

Are donors required to travel, and how long is the trip?

Yes, travel is required for the retrieval procedure. All flights, hotel accommodations, meals, and ground transport are arranged and paid for by Lucina.

  • Domestic donors typically travel for 7–9 days.
  • International donors travel for 18–21 days.

How long does the donor screening and approval process take?

After you apply, the screening and approval process usually takes 1–3 weeks. From initial application to final retrieval, the complete journey typically lasts 6–10 weeks, including local monitoring and coordination.

What makes someone ineligible to donate eggs?

You may be ineligible if you:

  • Are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Have a BMI above 28
  • Test positive for genetic or infectious conditions
  • Fail psychological evaluation

Lucina adheres to ASRM and FDA standards to ensure the safety of both donors and recipients.
